ASU Welcomes Molly Miller as New Head Coach of Sun Devils Women’s Basketball

After leading Grand Canyon University (GCU) to its first NCAA Tournament appearance, Molly Miller is set to take the reins at Arizona State University (ASU). The announcement comes shortly after GCU’s first-round loss to Baylor, ending a remarkable 30-game win streak.
TEMPE, Ariz. — Miller’s groundbreaking achievement with GCU culminated in a Western Athletic Conference tournament title, securing the school’s inaugural berth in the NCAA Tournament. Just hours post-defeat, sources revealed her decision to migrate to ASU, where she will replace the recently fired Natasha Adair.
ASU confirmed the hire on Saturday, though contract details remain undisclosed. “We are excited to have Coach Miller join us and restore women’s basketball to national prominence,” stated ASU President Michael Crow, emphasizing the commitment to fostering high-achieving student-athletes.
“Molly’s track record aligns perfectly with our vision,” ASU Athletic Director Graham Rossini added. Miller has built winning programs at every level, from high school to Division I basketball, showcasing her ability to foster successful teams.
Miller expressed enthusiasm for her new role, thanking ASU’s administration for their confidence in her leadership. “The opportunity at ASU truly stood out due to its resources and commitment to women’s basketball,” Miller remarked, eager to cultivate a championship-level team.
Transitioning from GCU, where she set a program record of 117-38, Miller previously enjoyed success at Drury University in Missouri before making her mark in Arizona. Under her guidance, GCU achieved a historic 30-game winning streak during the latest season, illustrating her prowess as a coach.
Arizona State aims to restore competitiveness after a disappointing season that saw them finish last in the Big 12 Conference. Miller’s proven success raises hopes that she can revitalize the Sun Devil program.
The official introduction of Molly Miller as head coach will take place on March 26 at Evie’s Pavilion at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix, marking the beginning of a new chapter for ASU women’s basketball.
