Eight-year-old Benjamin “Benjie” Ruiz, a third grader at Legacy Traditional School, is swiftly emerging as an online influencer with his YouTube show, “Benjie TV.”

Benjie has combined his two greatest passions in life: LEGO sets and Marvel characters. This enthusiasm has given rise to a web show that instructs children on assembling intricate plastic models like the LEGO Marvel Wolverine Mech Armor.

Although the concept resembles Ryan Kaji’s “Ryan’s World”—a top-earning YouTube channel according to Forbes—Benjie’s show remains a family-driven endeavor. While Ryan Kaji’s venture brought in over $250 million in 2021, Benjie’s family sees their project primarily as a fun activity.

The show’s production is a family affair where Benjie’s father, Robert, handles video production and editing roles. The professional quality comes through thanks to his mother, Fabiola, who utilizes her expertise from Savage Universal, a studio equipment company.

“I love LEGOs and want to make people enjoy them, too,” Benjie stated, discussing the show’s inception. The idea initially came from Robert, who suggested, “Instead of watching YouTube shows, why don’t you make one?”

Benjie started creating videos as a way to spend the summer. However, it quickly became more than just a pastime. The channel has been gaining traction, now with over 3,000 views on one of its videos and 58 subscribers offering feedback.

Outside of YouTube, Benjie enjoys sports like basketball and flag football. Referring to school, he jokingly added, “I like the lunch.”

The young YouTuber is gearing up for an exciting new episode where he will build a LEGO “Millennium Falcon,” the iconic starship from “Star Wars,” with a friend.

His father emphasizes the ultimate goal: “If we can put out positive content for people to watch, that’s our ultimate goal.”
