The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a prominent advocate for small businesses, has honored several Arizona lawmakers with its prestigious Guardian of Small Business Award this summer.

The recipients include Speaker of the House Ben Toma, Representatives David Livingston and Travis Grantham, as well as Senate President Warren Petersen, Senator J.D. Mesnard, and Senator T.J. Shope. This recognition highlights their contributions towards fostering an environment conducive to small businesses in the state.

Chad Heinrich, NFIB State Director, expressed gratitude towards the lawmakers, stating, “These six legislators have gone above and beyond on behalf of Main Street Arizonans. In this difficult economy, where costs are rising and positions remain unfilled, lawmakers must ensure that owning and operating a small business in Arizona does not become more challenging.” Heinrich emphasized the importance of their commitment to free enterprise and effective policy.

The awards were presented throughout August, with significant recognition given to various legislators including Petersen, who received the honor on August 15. Toma responded to his award with gratitude, saying, “Thank you. It is a great honor to be recognized by those dedicated to protecting and promoting small businesses.”

The NFIB, established in 1943, functions as the voice of small business across the country, advocating for the interests of small and independent business owners in Washington, D.C., and all state capitals.
