Cindy Quintero, a Latina woman raised by a single immigrant mother, has dedicated her life to addressing health inequities. Drawing from her personal experiences, she recognizes the challenges faced by families navigating a complex system lacking essential resources. These early struggles revealed how language barriers and systemic obstacles often hinder access to necessary care.

Quintero’s mission centers on the belief that health education and services should be universally accessible, transcending geographic and financial barriers. Growing up in a community where health care was often out of reach, she witnessed first-hand the profound impacts this lack of access had on families. These observations have propelled her commitment to dismantling the obstacles that stand in the way of healthier lives.

The focus of Quintero’s work extends beyond merely providing services; it aims to foster equity and empower individuals to thrive. In numerous Phoenix neighborhoods, residents encounter persistent challenges in obtaining crucial health information and preventive care. Such barriers frequently result in preventable health issues, affecting families for generations. Quintero firmly believes that access to health care represents a fundamental human right and is committed to effecting change in this area.

As the Health and Wellness Program Director for Advance Community, Quintero invites community participation in their mission. There are a multitude of ways to get involved, including volunteering and advocacy. She emphasizes the importance of spreading awareness about health equity and encourages individuals to inspire their loved ones to adopt healthier habits, whether through wellness check-ups or community health workshops.

In the face of ongoing uncertainty regarding health care access, Quintero remains steadfast in pursuing a vision of healthier communities. She aims to create a future where everyone, regardless of their background or financial status, has the necessary tools to lead fulfilling and healthy lives.
